Stocklands - Wave FM Rock Breakfast!
What a morning! Our school hosted a live broadcast of
the Wave FM breakfast show presented by Greg, Dave and
Jade from 7am until 9 am.We started off with the first
(very brave) Popstar karaoke singer—Chloe and was followed, over
the next hour and a half by Sophie , Chantel , Bronte ,
Imogen , Rachael , Sam , Isabella , Sophie and
Jade . The audience appreciated every singer’s talent,
however the best karaoke was surely the teacher’s group,
performing a Pink song … although there were some
murmurs of discontent among the band members over the
actions of a certain blonde teacher who seemed to be
hogging the microphone! At the end of the contest
Sophie was announced as the winner and received a
$25 IMB account. Well done Sophie! She may go further
and compete at a later date at Shellharbour Square. While
all this excitement was occurring the Wave FM crew were
busily serving a healthy breakfast to multitudes of
students and parents. Jake was our entrant in the ‘Are
You Smarter than a Fifth Grader’ competition, where he
was asked to compete against an adult who phoned in. In
a best of five question set, Jake was far too quick (and
smart!) and answered the first three questions
correctly, and collected a prize of a 4 gig iPod
Shuffle.
Live on air interviews were conducted with Rachael ,
Jack and Amy , while Nicole gave a fantastic
weather report.
Then the NSW Fire Brigade arrived
and gave guided tours of their truck to all who wanted
and they even allowed children to use the fire hose!
Finally Catherine from Stocklands presented Mr Barr with
a $200 voucher, which will be spent on school equipment.
A big thanks to the Wave FM breakfast crew—Greg, Dave
and Jade for the broadcast fun, and to Melanie and the
backup crew who set up early and worked tirelessly to
feed all the hungry mouths and organise the karaoke
contest.!
The fantastic support that teachers, parents and
students give to this school is once again apparent, we
had a huge crowd of appreciative people enjoying a
special event, and ‘celebrating the success’ of
Shellharbour Public School.
