Minnamurra Rainforest
On 31 May, Year 2 travelled to Minnamurra Rainforest to explore the wonderful environment there. Below are recounts of their adventures, and some pictures.

On the 10th of May 2007, Year 2 children went to Minnamurra Rainforest. It took us half and hour to get there from our school. On the way I sat next to Emma.
When we arrived there we were told to visit the toilet. After that we had and early recess. We saw an eel in the stream. We also saw three lyrebirds scratching for food. I looked up and saw a canopy. We got to have a look at a 100 year old tree. We also saw a big rock, some fungi, a water dragon, some strangler vines, stinging trees and we saw a rock that split in half because of some tree roots.
We walked on plastic that had been reused. We also walked on a wobbly bridge. My favourite thing was going on the bridge. On the way back I sat next to Bronte.

It took us half and hour to get there from our school. When we arrived there we were told to go to the toilet. We were going to recess early and we saw a lyrebird looking for food. When we were having recess we also saw the eel swimming in the stream.
After recess we went to the projector room. The rangers showed us the animals that lived in the rainforest. Next was the board walk. When we went on the boardwalk we saw fungi on different kinds of logs. Then we came to a sign and one way was a waterfall and the other way was to the visitor centre.
When we arrived at the visitor Centre we sat down to listen to what to do next. We were told to draw a beautiful picture of any place in Minnamurra Rainforest. When we finished drawing the picture we had to colour it in. After we all coloured our pictures we were all told to pack up everything to get ready to go to the bus. We left at two o’clock then we arrived at school at two thirty.
It was a good excursion to Minnamurra Rainforest. It was so good I want to go again!

On the 10th of May, Year Two children went on an excursion to Minnamurra Rainforest. It took us thirty minutes to get there from our school. First we hopped out of the bus and went into two lines. Then we walked up to the path and met two instructors.
First we got told to go to the toilet. Then we had an early recess. While we were having recess we saw a couple of eels in the stream. After recess we came to a room where there was a screen. Warren our instructor told us information about animals in the Minnamurra Rainforest. He told us there would be fungi around in the rainforest if you look carefully.
Then we went into the rainforest. There were two groups. One group went with Warren. The other group went with Ray. But I went with Warren.
We saw a water dragon, we saw a dead log and an old thousand year old tree. We took a photo of the thousand year old tree. We also saw strangler vines.
After that we had lunch at a wooden table. When we had finished eating lunch we got a piece of paper from Mrs Ang. What we did was draw a picture of the favourite thing we liked. We had to leave as much space as we could because we had to write at the top what it was and why.
I had fun. The best thing was looking at the thousand year old tree because when you look up you can see the leaves from the thousand year old tree.
After all that fun we had to go to school. When we got back the bell went. All we had to do was grab our bag and go.

After our recess we went for a walk around the rainforest. In the water we saw a water dragon. Then we kept on walking. As we were walking we saw a stinging tree, lilly pilly trees, fungi and strangler vines. I touched it. It was strange and hard. The strangler vines also kill the trees. We also saw a rock split apart and a big rock that fell from the cliff.
My favourite part was the wobbly bridge because it was wobbly.
